Delano Park
Delano Park is considered the wild, emerald jewel in the heart of Decatur’s historic downtown. The park features a gorgeous Rose Garden, Riverwild Garden of native plants and contemporary sculptures, over four hundred legacy trees, a children's area with a universally accepted playground and splash pad, gazebo, walking trail, and tennis courts. The beautiful green space area covers 28 acres. Established in 1887, Delano Park is the oldest existing city park designed and laid out by renowned New York landscape architect Nathan Franklin Barrett and listed on National Register of Historic Places. Recreational opportunities available are a one mile walking/running trail, four lighted tennis courts and a basketball court. Additional amenities include two pavilions (66 ft x 20 ft and 46 ft x 25 ft) with picnic tables. Riverwild Garden features a children's playground, splashpad and Bandstand/Fish School terrace.
