Historic Decatur Union Depot
The Historic Decatur Union Depot is a symbol of the city's rich railroad heritage which extends back to the 1830s. The complete restoration of the union depot in 2015 and early 2016 preserved most of the original architectural elements including the high ceilings, original doors and windows, wainscoting, and original brick and plaster walls. The John R. Cook and Lynn Cook wooden viewing platform is a special place for train watching. The loading dock includes benches and picnic tables and can be utilized to enjoy a meal or special function.
